Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with OPCC! We welcome individuals, schools and groups who wish to donate their time and talents to benefit those we serve at OPCC.
Below are some of the ways that people contribute their time to OPCC. If you have a great idea of something you would like to do for OPCC that is not listed, please email or call us to discuss it further: email@example.com or (310) 264-6646. We would love to speak with you about your ideas.
OPCC needs volunteers to help us in the following ways:
- Dinner Groups at the our Interim Housing programs
- Domestic Violence Services Support
- Sack Lunch Prep
- Special Events (seasonal)
- Sorting clothing and assisting in distribution
- General Cleaning
- Teaching/Tutoring/Life Skills
- Professional Clinics (tax preparation, legal services)
To help you get started, we have listed the three main categories for volunteers. If you do not fit into any of these categories, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first steps in becoming an individual volunteer are to attend a new volunteer orientation and complete and submit a volunteer application at that time. Orientations are held on a monthly basis in the evenings from 6:30-7:30pm at OPCC. Please email email@example.com for information about the next orientation and to reserve your spot. If you cannot attend on that date, other options will be made available.
If you are interested in volunteering with our domestic violence program, Sojourn Services For Battered Women And Their Children, please click here for details.
Groups & Corporate Partners
OPCC welcomes community groups and corporate partners that want to support our mission. If your group/company would like to volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll contact you to discuss your interests.
OPCC is pleased to be the partner of schools in our community that bring students, accompanied by an adult chaperones, to volunteer at our facilities. If you are interested in bringing a class to volunteer, please email email@example.com and we'll contact you to discuss your interests.
A FEW ITEMS TO KEEP IN MIND
Please note that except for school groups with adult chaperones; all volunteers must be 16 or older.
Release of Liability
All volunteers are asked to complete a liability release prior to volunteering. Minors must have the release signed by a parent or legal guardian.
A key component to the success of our volunteer program is time commitment. OPCC is looking for volunteers who are able to commit to a regular and consistent schedule. The majority of volunteer opportunities are during the weekdays from 8am – 4pm as that is when the people we serve need them most. We do occasionally have one-time events, and if that is your interest will contact you when they arise.
As you complete your application, we have included a section asking you about this time commitment. We ask that you think carefully and if anything, give a conservative response that can always be increased.
Do you have any physical limitations that might limit your ability to perform certain types of work? If so, please let us know.
