Transitional and Emergency Shelter

Founded in 1988, this unique transitional housing program provides up to nine months of structured group living for a maximum of 20 mentally ill homeless women, plus an additional 10 emergency beds where women may stay for two weeks. Staff and volunteers maintain an accepting home-like environment that is respectful of the residents’ privacy. Each resident has a private space to sleep and store her belongings, as well as access to a community kitchen, lounge and dining room. The shelter offers the following services to its residents:


* Three meals a day
* Psychiatric and medical care
* Permanent housing placement
* Support groups and workshops
* Special activities
* Case management
* Assistance with budgeting, self-care
* Counseling and benefits advocacy and job readiness skills
