Controlling people are not powerful – they feel

   • Vulnerable
   • Afraid

Powerful people are

   • Loved
   • Trusted
   • Respected

Family members, friends, even pets stay with a powerful person because

   • THEY WANT TO
   • They Love, Trust, and Respect this person

Family members, friends, pets stay with a batterer because

   • THEY ARE AFRAID TO LEAVE
   • They Fear and Loath this person
