Prevention

Sojourn recognizes that domestic violence is at the root of most of society’s ills.  Providing funding for domestic violence services and hiring personnel with domestic violence training in other positions would go far toward eradicating the problem.  A Department of Domestic Violence should be at the top of every governmental organization chart with all other departments stemming from that.  In this way, the links would be recognized and a continuum of care would be created and sustained.

Sojourn builds elements of prevention into all programming.  Our core value is empowerment of each and every individual.  In this way, we hope to build healthy family relationships and halt the intergenerational cycle of violence.

Sojourn’s Community Education & Outreach Program provides education in local schools on teen dating violence, healthy relationships and non-violent conflict resolution skills.  Sojourn staff make presentations to various community groups and parent groups in both English and Spanish.

T.R.A.C.I.E. is Sojourn’s teen relationship expert.
