advocates for fair and effective public policy regarding mental health issues in Sacramento.
NAMI also has a program called StigmaBusters, designed to fight improper, stigmatized portrayals of mental illness in the media and elsewhere, and actively seeks to influence public perceptions of mental illness. You can sign up as a StigmaBuster, receive action alerts, and assist NAMI in this endeavor. The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) and the Ad Council have also produced a National Mental Health Anti-Stigma Campaign entitled What A Difference A Friend Makes.
